Shows
Our
trip to Florida this year was very successful. It was a nice break to
be in the warm Florida sun for a few weeks. Our first stop was the Wellington
Classic Spring Dressage in West Palm Beach. It was a huge show at a
beautiful new facility. River Side Lady won the Training Level and First
Level qualifying classes with scores of 77.2% and 76.62%. She also won
the FEI Test for 5YO horses with a 77.6%. Brocken was also at her best
that weekend winning Third Level Test two with a 70.77%. She placed
third in Third Level Test One with a 67.95%, and seventh in the Third
Level qualifying class with a 66.74%. Gibraltar put in two solid Prix
St George tests scoring 63% and 62.75%.
Caroline
Humphries earned her USDF Bronze Medal and placed third and fifth in
two large adult amateur and junior young rider Third Level Classes with
scores of 61.63% and 64.87%. Suzi Jennings placed fifth in two Third
Level classes with scores of 67.18% and 68.38%.
She
also placed sixth in Fourth Level Test One with a 63.95%. Dressage Daily

exciting show for River Side Lady. She again won both the Training Level
and First Level Qualifying classes with scores of 86.4% and 77.37%.

Brocken won both of the Third Level qualifying classes with scores of
68.14% and 68.61%. Gibraltar placed third and fourth at Prix St George
with scores of 62.5% and 62.75%. Caroline Humphries earned her second

Martinelli and Suzi Jennings also went to attend the convention and
pick up their rider awards.
ABIG/USDF
Region 3 Championships
The regional championships were very successful this year. It was hot
and humid in Ocala, Fl but the horses did well settling in and competing.
The classes were very large so I was really pleased that all three horses
placed in every championship class. Gibraltar was the 4th level freestyle
champion(67.667%). He also placed 4th in the third level championships(65.814%),
and 3rd in the fourth level championships(62.683%). Brocken was the
2nd level freestyle champion(66.875%), and the 3rd level reserve champion(66.977%).
The third level results were a big surprise since we rode in the rain
and she's green for the level! Brocken also placed 7th in the second
level championships(64.762%). Piccalilli placed 6th in the training
level championships(66.053%), and 8th in the first level championships(66.316%).
USEF/Markel National Young Horse Championships & MSEDA Dressage
at the Kentucky Horse Park
The young horse championships were a bit "up and down" for
me this year. I broke my pinky toe just before the veterinary jog the
day before the competition began. The swelling and pain made riding
in boots an interesting endeavor all weekend. I then mistakenly carried
my whip in the first round of competition on Brocken and was eliminated
from the championships on her. This was very disappointing considering
the amount of time and effort it took to become qualified for this event.
River Side Lady made my weekend! She placed 5th in the warm up round
and 3rd in the finals! I was thrilled with this accomplishment considering
the very best young horses from all over the country were competing
against her.

The highlights of the open MSEDA show were Gibraltar's score of 71.458%
in the fourth level freestyle and Brocken's scores of 65.349% in the
third level qualifier and 71.190% in second level test four.

7.76 and 7.72. We are hopeful that both horses will end up in the top
20 in the nation, eligible to compete in the USEF Markel Young Horse

She was high score Fourth Level open.
Liz Wilhelm did a great job giving her young mare Veronique a positive

GDCTA
Young Horse Symposium
We spent Easter Weekend in Madison, GA at the GDCTA Young Horse Symposium
featuring Scott Hassler at After The Fox Farm. Despite the chilly temperatures
there was a large crowd of auditors. Scott was happy to see the progress
that Brocken had made since January.
I was really proud when he commented that her training had no weaknesses.
He decided we should move on and have some "fun" with her.
We worked on half steps and working pirouettes. Brocken was very amenable
to the new demands.
American
Hanoverian Young Horse Symposium
I was very lucky to be chosen to participate in the AHS Young Horse
Symposium with Scott Hassler. I rode three year old Riverside Lady and
five year old Brocken in the event. There were about 250 auditors present.
Scott
Hassler was a very encouraging instructor who was quick to size up each
of the demonstration horses. He particularly liked Riverside Lady's
balance and elasticity. He complemented Brocken's active hind leg and
flying changes. He thought that she really tried hard in her work.
Florida
Shows
We had a very successful trip down to Florida for some early season
showing and training. The Zada cup in Orlando was the first stop. It
was unseasonably cold and windy for Florida, but we still had a great
time.
Gibraltar was high score Third Level with his win of the Third Level
qualifying class with a 67.44%. He also won the Fourth Level qualifying
class on Sunday with a 64.15%. Brocken was second by a hair in Second
Level test two on Saturday with a 67.08%. She also placed second in
the Second Level qualifying class with a 66.67%. Brocken won the Second
Level qualifying class on Sunday with a 67.14%. The Zada cup was Temperano's
first show in a quite a while. He's only been shown once prior to this
trip at training level. He was very nervous but managed to place in
most of his first and second level classes with scores in the low 60s
due to his lack of experience. His highlight for the weekend was winning
First Level test two with a 68.89%.
The
next stop was Florida Dressage Concours February 24 & 25. The weather
was beautiful and all the horses seemed to be at their best with any
first show jitters out of the way! Gibraltar was again high score Third
Level with his win of the Third Level qualifying class with a 67.44%.
He also won the Fourth Level qualifying class on Saturday with a 62.93%.
He placed second in the Fourth Level qualifying class on Sunday with
a 65.12%. Brocken was high score Second Level with her win of Second
Level test three with a 70.93%! She won all of her classes including
both Second Level qualifying classes. She also received a qualifying
score for the FEI Six Year Old National Championships, 70.14%. Temperano
settled in much better at this show! He placed third in the very large
First Level qualifying class on Saturday with a 67.37%. He also placed
third in the Second Level qualifying class on Saturday with a 65.24%.
On Sunday he placed fourth and third in the qualifiers with 66.05% and
66.91%. He wins for most improved performance!
Student and traveling buddy Suzi Jennings earned her Bronze Medal at
the February 24&25 show. Congratulations Suzi!

Uwe Miegel and Ellinwood Brown-Miegel have
been a major part of many of my accomplishments. I've been very fortunate
to train and show their lovely horses over the years. Uwe and Ellinwood
own Hannover
Hof Farm where they buy and breed wonderful
horses. Gibraltar "Gibby" and Brocken
have both been with me for some time, and they have a place in my heart
as if they were my own.
Cindy
Latham, who owns Baltic Jubilation has also been very supportive
of my goals. "Jubi" has been my step child for some time.
He has definitely brought attention to me with his enormous presence
and elastic movement.
